Dont think that it is a good announcement for the ones who still bought it, cause I still have the feeling that this will be the start of a dying giles 2.0 in view of new updates!
And I hope that noone bought it last months, they must be pissed of... |

Hi,
People who have bought gile[s] within the last couple of months have received a full refund.
It does not mean gile[s] is dead. It just means gile[s] is free to use. I don't see how that can offend anyone.. |

Ok thats a social decision to give people a refund.
But I dont believe that you dont know what I was meaning to the updates of giles 2.0! Its definitely a must to go freeware if you dont have so much time developing on giles 2.0, but it also means that you dont have to code on it cause its freeware and no consumers can stress you going further to a rc cause noone is paying for it now and in the future...
Well I still hope you dont go this way ^ and we will get some updates regularly!
best regards |

Hi,
I appreciate your concern but there is nothing to worry about. There's a new update coming soon, which should correct the bugs that have been reported. |

I like free software, so this is great, but what were the main reasons for making it free?
We should spam every game dev forum we know with a link to the site now... |

i dunno... i bought a license for Giles years ago, but i can undertstand making it available for free now...
Giles was one of the two best, bar non, indie software products i've ever licensed... not only the usefulness of the program, but also the developer support...
also, of note here...
the other best, bar non, program i licensed... PaceMaker, has also gone the freeware route after years of support to licensees...
coincidence... or the natural process of things... who nows, but i for one am a satisfied customer...
thx Fredborg, for a really great experience with Giles... and good luck with your future endeavors...

Hello Mike,
You hit it right on the nail...."the natural process of things...". My experience since I licensed the software has been nothing but great support /info from Fredborg"....we hope you come up with another level of Gile{s} down the road.
I wish you the best man...
btw Mike; what's PaceMaker"? _________________ To know yourself is to know who created you... |

Great move Fredborg!
It was the right thing to do after all this time. It will benefit the game developing community hugely.
Thanks!
Quick question: will there be a newer commercial version? If so, will the upgrade still be free for licensed users?
regards,

Beside gile[s] you seem to neglect your forum as well... |
