I just want to say this is the best budget tree generator I have found and suggest you to make a premier version for sale that also includes more trees, grasses, cactus, and popular flowers. Also, would be cool to add Obj export. If possible, would be good idea to make a 3dsMax plugin that would allow to import .trd or even allow control, adjustments within 3dsMax.... I would pay for a fine tree maker like this. Good job!
| Fredborg wrote: | Hi,
A few weeks ago someone asked about tree[d]...
tree[d] is an easy to use tree generator, which integrates with gile[s] as a plugin or runs as a standalone program.
I haven't spent any time on it for several years, but I dug out the code again, and decided to spend a few hours on adding a few bits and bobs, and so tree[d] returns...
It now has color sets for variation, and can do more fun stuff than before. In addition it exports directly to animated b3d and x...
Here are a few screenshots:
Download it here:
http://www.frecle.net/treed/tree[d]-setup300.exe (~15Mb)
tree[d] comes with some 50 textures which you can play around with.
tree[d] is free to use, with some minor limitations which are detailed in the license text.
Be sure to post your best trees here
(Ok, back to adding the last bits and pieces to the next gile[s] beta) |

Just so you know this software doesnt work using VMWare fusion 3.01, which is the latest Windows emulation software on a Mac.
What a bummer, dude. |

| Rarely any 3D software does. So who`s to blame? |

Well they just added OpenGL2.1 support.
According to all parties that was the supposed missing link.

Oh, fine. But the emulated graphics card is still as slow as having an old 486 PC. A S3 Trio when i remember right. Using VMWare or any other emulator for 3D stuff is simply no good idea. 3D is resource hungry. And emulators are slow |

Does it have to be giles 1.3? Suppose it works in 2.X as well..?
I tried to create a tree, load in giles 2.X..and export to obj. and into Maya also get some UV on leaves that doesn't work..trunk is perfect! |

Is there a workaround?Maybe better with 3d Max?
I know that the color variations will be lost due to direct X shading, but it must be possible to export to some format and get a proper tree somehow? |

| Unfortunately not. The colours comes from lighting. Which doesn´t export. What usually exports is the textures and the mesh. And this works best through Giles 1.3 |

|
|
Hi,
I am wondering why the B3D importer for 3D studio Max imports B3D files distorted. I am using 3D Studio Max 2010. I could import the geometries and textures but it is scattered instead of nicely forming a tree. I also noticed that the objects are oriented in one direction like wind blowing it. I wish I could upload a picture to show. Any help on how to correct this issue would be a great help.
Thanks,
Rabi |
